Renz Research, Inc. provides highly-automated crystallographic application software for macromolecular structure determination. Our software research and development focus on several cutting-edge technologies in today's structural biology.  During phd dissertation writing students from the Boston University were helping to conduct some experiments to complete the project. A new generation of Laue diffraction image processing software PrecognitionTM greatly reduces human efforts required by the most difficult Laue data processing, and therefore increases throughput of Laue experiments.  Programs for automatic detection of non-crystallographic symmetry (NCS) are able to ease a key bottleneck in the streamline of high-throughput protein structure determination.  Our application software products have a well-structured foundation Crystallographic Concept LibraryTM (CCLTM) and Crystallographic Protocol LibraryTM (CPLTM).  These libraries not only ensure extensibility and maintainability of our products, but also provide toolkits for eduation, research and industry in the field of structural biology.  We offer customized software development to solve specific problems of our clients, and provide other professional services for structural biology research, such as crystallographic consulting, computer system integration and administration.

(12/1/2004) Precognition 4.2.0 is realeased. Numerical compensation to analytical profile improves integration accuracy of strong reflections.  Frame-specific lambda-curves are possible.

(7/12/2004) Precognition 4.1.0 is realeased. Extremely-close spatially overlapping reflections can be deconvoluted by a modified algorithm from harmonic deconvolution.

(5/7/2004) Precognition 4.0.0 is realeased. The last major function in Laue data processing, harmonic deconvolution, is now available.

(3/26/2004) Precognition 3.1.0 is realeased. Soft limits recognition is available now in Precognition. A much more robust random walk procedure is implemented for frequent crystal slipping. Uncertainties of detector parameters can be set by users, so that the freedom of refine is limited.

Crystal mosaicity is refined by Epinorm. Energy bandwidth of Laue reflection and Laue partials are considered in wavelength normalization and data scaling.

Nasymm/NCSymm 1.0.0 are realeased for testing online. Non-crystallographic symmetry is important information to be determined during the process of protein structure determination. The newly released programs help to learn NCS information at very early stages. Welcome to test these programs.

(11/6/2003) Precognition 3.0.0 is realeased.  The major addition to this release is a new program Epinorm (Energy Partial Improved NORMalization).  Epinorm reduces Laue integrated intensities to structure factor amplitudes through wavelength normalization and frame-to-frame scaling.  Partial reflections in monochromatic oscillation are due to limited oscillation angle, so that such partial is called angular partial.  Partials in Laue diffraction happen due to a finite energy bandpass.  Laue partial is called energy partial.
